The Culotte Quotient

I just started my fall shopping and the first piece on my list was a culotte! Wide legs are back for fall in a big way and while they can be tricky if you're petite, they can easily work in a cropped version.

I scooped up these Vince Culottes at Nordstrom during my last shopping trip and have already worn them out! At 5'5" tall they are the perfect length to wear with a tee and sneakers or can be styled with a heel for something a bit dressier. As a mom on a budget, any personal purchases that can do double duty are a huge plus! I love that these culottes replace my regular weekend denim look but can also be styled with a slide and jacket for night out.

Sophisticated yet comfortable, the culotte is definitely a transitional fall must-have! Check back for more of my favorite fall pieces coming to the blog soon.

Checks, Please

Gingham and checks have been everywhere this summer and it seems the trend is continuing on into fall. I've already started my fall wish-list but haven't pressed the button on any cold-weather pieces yet. Since summer is coming to a close but the weather hasn't quite turned, this is the perfect time to incorporate pieces into your wardrobe that you can wear NOW and LATER, like denim, layering tees and a quintessential check shirt.

In a black and white pattern and crisp silhouette, this button-up has a bit more edge than your typical gingham piece. I paired it with my favorite black destructed jean, studded belt and strappy heel to keep the look modern. I can't wait till September when I can layer a leather jacket and bootie with it! Its versatility is endless and since the pattern is a classic, it's worth hanging on too for seasons to come.

5 Minute mama Make-up

I am obsessed with beauty products and have a vanity full of make-up and skincare goodies! While I love trying new looks and doing a 'full-face' for special occasions, as a mom, I am always under the gun when it comes to getting ready in the morning. Some days my son is up as soon as my feet touch the floor, and that means I have about 5 minutes of beauty time before the day starts! Often I go #makeupfree, but on the days I have a lunch meeting or special outing, foundation is a must for me.

I swear Dior's Airflash Foundation was created with moms in mind since it has amazing coverage and applies in a flash! This spray-on foundation is a absolute favorite of mine. After blending in my foundation, I apply Bobbi Brown's Tinted Eye Brightener. It not only lightens and brightens the under eye area but doubles as a highlighter pen that I swipe over my forehead and chin.

A quick, soft eye is also super easy to achieve with Urban Decay's Naked2 Eyeshadow Palette. I even use the darkest shade as an eyeliner with just a dash of water and finish with a quick eyelash curl. A swipe of blush and a natural lip color complete the look. I found the perfect neutral lip shade from Nar's Sheer Lipstick collection.

Voila! A simple and natural look in just a few minutes. Honestly, when it comes to doing a quick face, quality counts. A good foundation, concealer and blush go a long way, don't you think? What are some of your favorite 5-minute beauty products?

Denim Jumpsuit du Jour

I love a good jumpsuit and they are everywhere right now! During girls night out in Philly last weekend there was a romper or jumpsuit on every corner! The appeal of the jumpsuit, like a dress, it that it's easy to wear and simple to accessorize. Minimal effort, maximum style output! I found this fabulous lycocell "denim" jumpsuit from H&M and it's been on repeat ever since I scooped it up.

You can easily pair this piece with a slide and tote for a quintessential casual summer look. For Sunday brunch in the city, however, I went for something a bit more polished; a wedge platform and clean clutch. Simple yet sophisticated.

The versatility of the romper and jumpsuit make it a statement piece that will be here to stay for seasons to come. I'm looking forward to seeing new iterations for fall but I'm also loving the latest versions at retail now. What's your favorite way to wear a romper? Are you planning on adding this piece into your fall wardrobe. LMK, I'd love to  hear how you styled it!
