Denim du Jour

The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now. - Chinese Proverb

I recently heard this quote and it rang true for me since I've been thinking about getting this blog up and running for the better part of a year. Why the wait? Well, as an entrepreneur, stylist, designer and former corporate director, it was never the right time. Now that I'm a mom time is even more precious, but after a creative cleansing, I've come back to my roots and hope to share my love of fashion, family, beauty and entertaining with you.

As a personal stylist, I recently expanded from maternity into menswear, but no matter the client I believe starting with the basics and staying true to your own style is paramount. Quality, classics, and a modern mix of high-low pieces are my blueprint. I say spend on the essentials and save on the trends. Oh, and start with denim since it's a staple and one of the first pieces I offer my clients.

This post features two of my favorite pieces: the denim jacket and destructed jean.

For an early night out with my husband and 4 year old, I went with a basic tank and dark destructed jean paired with a denim jacket and edgy accessories. I kept the look neutral highlighted with a classic denim jacket and gold studded belt. Simple but packed with style.

I hope you like my first denim du jour and will continue to check back in for more ideas!

XOXO, Olivia
